No Bake Oreo Cake Balls

So yesterday afternoon I thought it would be nice to make my son a treat {a little special pre-treat to him having his tubes put in this morning}. I wanted something fast, easy, and different...

I decided to go with NO-BAKE OREO CAKE BALLS. I've never made them before, so I looked around online for what I was to mix the crushed Oreo cookies with... I kept coming across real cream cheese as the "glue" {hmm}

So I decided to split the crushed cookies in HALF and use real cream cheese with one half and cream cheese frosting {just happened to have some store bought on hand}

this was with real cream cheese... the taste was ok but they look horrible!
Ok, so I will NEVER use real cream cheese in cake balls again. IMO it was too sticky, it did not round as well {and I used less than half the cream cheese}, and even after setting up in the fridge were not worth it after I coated a couple... So toss that and move onto the cream cheese FROSTING batch.

Just coated them in chocolate almond BARK {add a smidge of shortening for shine}, using a fork to drain excess chocolate out, and then topped with different sprinkles.

I LOVE THEM!

They were the easiest cake balls I have made and by far LIL MAN's FAVORITE

Back to my lil man for some RANDOMNESS... His surgery went good today. The goofy juice had us cracking up as he wanted to "catch the running numbers" and then he cried b/c he thought when the nurse said "no driving" {meaning riding his bike today} that he couldn't go home as promised after... lol After the nurse "gave" his daddy permission to drive us home today, he was happy. ;) Still a little grumpy now, but the headache {hangover} has worn off and he has his land legs back. My baby can hear and will hopefully NOT get anymore ear infections! {as for me, ironically last night the urgent care center diagnosed me with my first ever ear infection... what is up with that?!}

my youngest lil man... his FAV blanket {passed down} and MY mama bear

Well, off to relax with the lil man... Happy Friday!

{p.s. we postponed our practical jokes till we are sure lil man is up to the fun}

  1. Oh poor kid! My husband had that done when he was little and the first time he stepped outside he totally FREAKED out when a car drove by because he could hear it! HAHAHA! I hope you BOTH feel better soon! And thank you SO much for sharing this recipe! I'm happy to know about the real cream cheese dilemma...I won't try that. These look SOOOO good, I think I'll have to make some this weekend!

  2. Oh yeah, we are keeping him inside for a couple of days while he adjusts. lol Already his response time has increased (no more double calling his name)... ;) Now I still can't hear but the pain is gone. Ah well, at least now I had a taste of what he's been going through. Thank you!

    Yeah, the flavor was good but IDK it just didn't work right and well I would think it wouldn't keep as long. The frosting was not overly sticky to work with and I used about 1/4 the container. It was soooo easy to coat and had a nice, non-gooey, bite to it. I may play around with some other non-bake cake ball ideas tomorrow night (my exceptional children's class will be having a game party if UK wins tonight) --- well if they win. Enjoy your weekend, Natalie!

  5. Yum! So glad the surgery went well! I thought I'd just respond to you on here- no the food coloring on the coffee filters did NOT stain my dryer. I was worried that they would, but maybe since I "ringed" the filter out - to get rid of the excess water- that helped? All I know is putting them in the dryer was a life saver! Hope you feel better soon! Ear infections are no fun :(

  14. He is doing great thank you La Vonne! :) I am so happy to report, not even a sniffle since the tubes were put in. His ENT took a look at my ear too, and well I have about three months before it is completely healed, but I can manage. Yes, I white with pastel sprinkles... or even pastel candy melts. I bought my daughter a bag of purple choc melts (Wiltons) to play around with. :D

    Thank you LBR. I was off for the week, the end of the semester is crunch time for me, but I will see whats happening this Friday. :D
